- Length: 7 nights round trip is the headline; Disney also lists a 5-night version (checked Oct 11, 2026).
- Ships: Disney's page lists Disney Wonder and Disney Magic on different Alaska itineraries (checked Oct 11, 2026). Which ship sails in which year is something you confirm when you book.

The route in one paragraph
You board at Canada Place in downtown Vancouver, then head north up the Inside Passage, the sheltered waterway of islands and fjords that runs along the coast of British Columbia and southeast Alaska. Over the week you typically stop in Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway, three small towns that grew up on salmon, timber and the Klondike gold rush. Another day is given to Glacier Viewing, where the ship slows near the Stikine Icecap and everyone heads to the open decks. Sea days bookend the port days. Some sailings swap Juneau for Icy Strait Point. The order of days differs by sailing, so look at the day-by-day on Disney's itinerary page for your date.
When to go
Disney's Alaska page does not give a season, and it only notes that in summer the sun stays above the horizon longer, which means more daylight hours (checked Oct 11, 2026). Alaska sailings are normally a summer program, so the practical answer is to open the sailing list on Disney's page and see which months are offered that year. For families, school calendars decide most of it: summer weeks sell out first, and the early and late edges of the season are usually cooler and a little easier to book. We are not quoting weather averages here because we did not open an official climate source. Pack for cold rain regardless.
Embarkation port in brief
Canada Place is on the downtown waterfront and the terminal is next to TransLink's Waterfront station, which links SkyTrain, buses, the SeaBus and the West Coast Express. The Canada Line runs rapid transit directly to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) (checked Oct 11, 2026). The terminal lists flat-rate taxi fares from YVR of $42.00, and from $16.00 to downtown hotels, as of 2026-10-11; confirm at the same page. Stopping for pick-up or drop-off is allowed for 15 minutes or less at the Canada Place parkade (checked Oct 11, 2026).
You are crossing an international border by sea and flying into Canada, so check passport and entry rules for every traveler before booking flights. Disney's Travel Documentation page is the line's source; the Canadian eTA page at canada.ca says a valid passport from a visa-exempt country is the starting point, and its text did not address US citizens or cruise passengers, so confirm your own situation with Canada's immigration site and your line (checked Oct 11, 2026).
Rough cost, three ways
We do not quote a specific sailing's cabin price. On Disney's site, pick your sailing date and fill in the number of guests and stateroom type, and write the fare here.

Why families pick this route
Alaska on Disney trades the pool-and-beach rhythm of the Bahamas for scenery, wildlife and short, story-rich town days. The ship does the family logistics: age-banded clubs for kids, tweens and teens are listed on Disney's site under Onboard Activities, so parents can plan a tour or a quiet hour while children are looked after. Ages, hours and sign-in rules are on Disney's clubs page; confirm them there. The honest trade-off is weather and pace. Expect cool, wet days, long days in port, and at least one place where a tender or a long transfer makes a stroller awkward. Pick one big excursion per family, keep the rest easy, and treat the glacier day as the ship's gift to everyone.
Three free things
- Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, Skagway. There is no entrance fee, and ranger programs and park museums are free (checked Oct 11, 2026). The visitor center is a good first stop for the day, and Ranger Chats are short talks about the park's stories (checked Oct 11, 2026). Photo: the historic Skagway main street.
- Mendenhall Glacier area, Juneau. The Tongass National Forest page describes trails of varying length that lead to waterfalls or salmon streams, including the lakeshore walk to Nugget Falls, and warns that black bears live in the area (checked Oct 11, 2026). A fee page exists, so check it for the visitor center. Separately, a September 25, 2026 notice says the visitor center will close for maintenance, with no dates given on the page we opened (checked Oct 11, 2026). Getting to the glacier from the dock is not free; price the bus or ship transfer. Photo: Mendenhall Glacier.
- Ketchikan waterfront on foot. On the itinerary where you dock at Ketchikan itself, the town's creek street and harbor are walking territory; on the Ward Cove version you will need transport into town, so check Disney's port page. We did not open a Ketchikan city page, so confirm hours and distances there. Photo: Ketchikan harbor.
