Celebrity Alaska from Seattle: The 7-Night Dawes Glacier Itinerary, Port by Port (2026)
At a glance
- Ship: Celebrity's Alaska page links its Seattle round trip to Celebrity Edge, first ship of the Edge Series (checked Oct 12, 2026).
- Route (sample, as scheduled as of 2026-10-12): Seattle, Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan and scenic cruising at Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier. Order changes by sailing.
- Port in Seattle: Pier 91 at Smith Cove, a short drive from downtown; no walk-up from hotels.
- Airport: SEA. Link light rail runs from the airport into downtown; confirm fares at soundtransit.org.
- Season: the page says early May to late September, with June described as the driest month.
- Book ahead: ship excursions (the Skagway train sells out first), Mendenhall and tram timings, and your flight home on the right day.
- The mistake most people make: booking a flight home too early on debarkation morning, or landing the morning of sailing with no cushion.
When to go
May to September. Early season (May, June) tends to be drier and cooler; July and August are warmest and busiest; September is quieter with more rain, usually. These are patterns, not promises; Celebrity's page names June as the driest month. Pick by what you want: long evenings and the best odds of dry glacier views point to June, warm days and the most daylight to July, and quieter ports and slightly lower fares often (not always) to the shoulders. Check the fare calendar for your own dates rather than trusting a rule of thumb.
What it costs, three ways (fill in your own numbers)
Get the fare from the cruise search tool on celebritycruises.com for your exact sailing and fill in the blanks; we never quote a specific sailing's price because it changes daily.

Who it suits
Glacier-and-wildlife travelers who like a newer, design-forward ship; couples and friends who want a polished sea day; first-timers who want one big scenic highlight (Dawes Glacier) in a week; families with older kids who can handle a cold deck. Less ideal if you want rock-bottom pricing, a casual flip-flops feel, or a port every single day, since this route trades one port day for scenic cruising. Check the ship's vibe on Celebrity's page and our Edge-class guide.
Three free things
- Dawes Glacier from the ship. Photo subject: a blue-white glacier face at the head of a fjord. Go out before the fjord narrows.
- Ketchikan's Creek Street boardwalk. Photo subject: wooden boardwalk and stilted houses over a salmon creek. Free, flat and a few minutes from the downtown berths.
- Seattle waterfront at sunset before you board. Photo subject: ferries and the Olympic Mountains over Elliott Bay. A free evening after a travel day.
Booking order in four steps
Pick your sailing and price it two ways (cruise-only and the bundled fare). Book flights with miles or cash once the sailing is confirmed. Reserve the first-night hotel, then the Skagway train and any boat or floatplane trip. Finally, book dinners and spa slots in the app when your sailing opens. Each step has a cancellation rule; read it before paying.
Points in one paragraph
Alaska Atmos receives Bilt points at 1:1; United receives Chase and Bilt 1:1; Delta receives Amex 1:1; Hyatt receives Chase at 4:3 and Bilt 1:1; Marriott receives Chase, Amex and Bilt 1:1. Use points for flights when the cash fare is high; use cash when it is cheap. The full guide has the step-by-step search.
What the week feels like
Day one is a Seattle sail-away; day two is a quiet Inside Passage sea day; day three is Ketchikan's boardwalk town; day four is Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier; days five and six are Juneau and Skagway; and the last full day closes the loop before you return to Seattle. The pace is easy, then dramatic, then busy; sleep on the sea day and be outside early on the glacier day.
Documents and flights
Bring a passport; US citizens on a closed-loop sailing should also read cbp.gov for what other proof can work. Book your flight home for early afternoon or later. Landing at SEA the day before sailing is safer than landing the same morning; weather, delays and missed bags are the usual causes of a missed ship.
Getting to the pier
Pier 91 is at Smith Cove, a short ride from downtown. Taxi or rideshare is the simple choice; Link light rail serves the airport and downtown only. Check portseattle.org and soundtransit.org for current details.
Insider moves that cost nothing
Build the carry-on the night before and put the boarding pass, passport and luggage tags in one pouch you do not unpack. Book dinner and spa slots in the app before you board, because they sell fastest on day one. On the glacier day, go outside before the ship enters the fjord and stay out for the exit; the narrowest, prettiest stretch is on the way in. In Skagway, compare the ship's price for the train with the operator's price and read the cancellation terms. Ask guest services at midday on the sea day how the ship will position itself for the glacier.
What's not worth it
Stacking three paid tours on one port day, prepaying drinks you will not finish on a cold, busy week, a pre-booked ship transfer to the airport if a rideshare is cheaper, and a glacier-day brunch package when the deck is free and has the best view. One big thing per port is plenty; the rest of the week is the ship, the fjord and the boardwalks.
One honest warning
Dawes Glacier is the highlight, and it is also the part of the week that the captain, the ice and the weather control. If the ship cannot go all the way in, you still get the fjord. Plan the rest of the week so that a changed day does not ruin it, and treat every clock time here as a typical pattern to confirm in the app.

Good to know before you go
We checked this guide on 2026-10-12 against Celebrity's own pages, a State Department advisory and a few port sites; several official pages would not open from our research environment and are named in the full guide. Itineraries, port order, all-aboard times, fees and gratuity rates change by sailing, so confirm on celebritycruises.com, in your booking, and in the Celebrity app before you sail.
