Experience Alaska’s Premier Ski, Shopping, and Golf

Alaska Airlines just widened the menu of things you can buy with Atmos Rewards points, and most of it has nothing to do with flying.
On October 7, Alaska announced new Atmos Unlocked experiences from Alterra Mountain Company, Nordstrom and Pebble Beach Resorts.
What Atmos Unlocked is
Atmos Rewards is the loyalty program of Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines. Atmos Unlocked is its marketplace where members “turn points into experiences through exclusive packages, events and partner offerings.”

What’s new
- Alterra Mountain Company: points can be redeemed for “select ski and mountain experiences this season,” including 26/27 Ikon Pass bundles. Named options are Crystal Mountain, Palisades Tahoe, Steamboat and CMH heli-skiing.
- Nordstrom: “starting this season,” points can go toward private holiday shopping experiences in seven markets, including Seattle, Portland, Honolulu, Los Angeles and New York City.
- Pebble Beach Resorts: culinary and resort packages, with seasonal stay-and-play and hosted golf planned.

What Alaska didn’t say
The announcement gives no point prices. It gives no package dates, no caps on how many are available, and no sign-up requirements. We can’t tell you what an Ikon Pass bundle or a Nordstrom session will cost in points, or how quickly they’ll sell out.

When new stuff shows up
Alaska says new packages and events “drop on Atmos Members Day, the first Wednesday of every month.” That’s the same day the airline posts its monthly award sale.

Our take
A ski pass or a private shopping appointment paid for with points sounds fun. Run the numbers before you bite: once prices are posted, compare the points cost with what the same thing costs in cash, and with what those points would buy in flights.
Bottom line: new ways to spend Atmos points, no prices yet. Wait for the numbers.
