Who this ship is for
Disney Destiny is built for families with young kids and for adults who want a Disney trip without the park crowds. It is a big, polished ship with lots of kid space, so it suits first-time cruisers who like everything organized. Couples and friends do well too, mainly because of the adult-only dining, bars and a quiet pool area (names to confirm on Disney's site). It is not the cheapest way to cruise. Light sleepers and anyone who dislikes crowds at peak school-holiday weeks should think twice about those dates.
The ships in the class
Disney's Wish class has three ships: Disney Wish, Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny, in that order (per Wikipedia, confirm on the line's site). They share a basic layout, a grand lobby, three themed main dining rooms with rotational dining, a family of kids' clubs and a water-coaster attraction. Each ship has its own theme, so the lobby, restaurants and bars differ. Disney has marketed Destiny around heroes and villains, and Wikipedia's article stresses Marvel characters; confirm the current theming on Disney's page. Confirm exact venue names on Disney's page.
The 3 best things that cost nothing extra
- The main rotational dining rooms. Your fare includes a themed dinner show-style meal that rotates with your tablemates and servers. Photo subject: Disney Destiny, themed main dining room, interior concept.
- The big stage shows. Evening theater productions are included. Reserve seats in the app where the line asks you to. Photo subject: Disney Destiny, theater stage and seating, interior.
- The main pool deck and water-slide area. Pool access and the kids' splash areas are free. The line's signature water-coaster attraction on Wish-class ships is typically included, though lines can be long. Photo subject: Disney Destiny, upper pool deck, exterior at sea.
Where to be on the ship
Walk the upper decks early on embarkation day while most guests are still boarding. Check the app on the first morning for show times and reservation windows. On port days, the pool area is usually quieter while most guests are ashore.

Documents and entry rules
Short Bahamas sailings from US ports are generally "closed-loop" cruises. The rules for US citizens on closed-loop cruises are on the CBP page, https://www.cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/western-hemisphere-travel-initiative. Check it before you book. A passport is the safest choice. The State Department's Bahamas advisory is at travel.state.gov; check it before you go. Non-US citizens should check the Bahamas and US entry rules for their nationality.
What to know before you book
- It is a big, busy ship. Wish-class ships carry thousands of guests (Wikipedia lists capacity for Destiny at 2,508 at double occupancy and 4,116 maximum; confirm on the line's site). Expect lines at popular rides, quick-service spots and the kids' club check-in at peak times.
- Short sailings go fast. A 3 or 4 night itinerary leaves little slack. Skipping a port-day plan means you may spend the day at the beach or on the ship anyway.
- Upcharges are real. Adult dining, bar tabs, spa, excursions and photos are extra. Onboard bar, adult dining and spa charges carry an automatic 18 percent gratuity (checked Oct 12, 2026).
- Loyalty helps with timing. Disney's Castaway Club lets repeat cruisers book and add activities earlier, with online check-in opening earlier at higher tiers (checked Oct 12, 2026). First-timers book later in the same queue, so book your dining and activities the moment your window opens.
- Pick your window carefully. Summer and school holidays cost more and feel more crowded. Hurricane season runs through the fall in the Caribbean, so consider cancellation coverage and read the line's weather policy.
Booking tips in a minute
Book directly with Disney or through an agent, and compare the same cabin category on both. Choose your cabin by location first and category second: a mid-ship verandah on a lower deck generally rides smoother than a far-forward or far-aft room high up. Book the sailing that includes Lookout Cay if you want a beach day without paying for a private resort. Check each day of your itinerary on Disney's page, because port order changes. Download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app before embarkation, and keep screenshots of confirmations in case Wi-Fi is spotty at the terminal.
