IN THIS ISSUE
| 01 Hilton adds Diamond Reserve: 80 nights and $18K |
| 02 American will put Starlink on every mainline jet |
| 03 Amex expands Centurion Lounges: Newark, Heathrow, Philadelphia, Houston |
|
| Good afternoon. Three stories broke this week that our morning edition didn’t carry. We read each one on the official page before writing a word, and here’s what matters. |
| HOTELS |
| Hilton Honors adds a top tier, Diamond Reserve, and shortens the path to status |
| Hilton’s Honors page now shows five tiers. |
| The new one, Diamond Reserve, takes 80 elite nights and $18,000 of spend in a year, earns 22 points per dollar (Diamond earns 20), and adds two things Diamond never had: a Confirmable Upgrade Reward and a guaranteed 4 pm late checkout. |
| The tier chart also lists Silver at 10 nights, Gold at 25 and Diamond at 50, under a banner reading “Faster path to Elite Status.” Separately, The Points Guy reported a 120% bonus on purchased Hilton points this week; the offer shows only inside your account, so check the buy-points screen while logged in, and remember that bought points only pay off when you have a specific stay priced out first. |

THE NUMBER
80 nights + $18K
what Hilton’s new Diamond Reserve tier asks for in a year
|
|
| |
WHAT TO DO
What the page does not say: when the new thresholds take effect or whether the $18K counts card spend, so confirm on Hilton’s terms page before you plan a year of stays around it.

| AIRLINES |
| American Airlines will put Starlink on every mainline jet |

| |
| American announced on Oct 8 that it will install Starlink Wi-Fi across its entire mainline fleet — more than 1,000 Airbus and Boeing narrowbodies and widebodies — with installations beginning in early 2027, expanding the 500-plus Airbus aircraft it announced in May. |
|
THE NUMBER
1,000+
mainline jets slated for Starlink Wi-Fi, installs starting early 2027
|
|
| |
WHAT TO DO
The release does not say whether the Wi-Fi will be free or which routes get it first, so a fleet-wide plan is not the same as Starlink on your flight next month; don’t pick a fare on this alone.

| |
| On Oct 8 American Express announced four Centurion Lounge projects: a new two-floor lounge in Newark’s Terminal A at more than 30,000 square feet (the largest in the network, expected 2027); a second lounge at London Heathrow (expected 2028); and expansions of the Philadelphia lounge (doubling to over 12,000 square feet; it closes for renovation on October 16, 2026 and is expected back by the end of 2027) and Houston Intercontinental (expected to be fully updated by 2028). |
|
THE NUMBER
30,000+ sq ft
the planned Newark Terminal A lounge, the largest in the Centurion network
|
|
| |
WHAT TO DO
The practical note: if you connect through Philadelphia after October 16, plan on no Centurion Lounge there for about a year; check the Amex lounge locator for the current status before you fly.
