United Puts Starlink Wi-Fi on Its First Guam-Based 737 MAX 8s
United announced on Oct 13, 2026 that Starlink Wi-Fi is now flying on two Guam-based Boeing 737 MAX 8s, among the first MAX 8s in the fleet to get it (checked Oct 14, 2026).
What is changing in Guam. United is replacing its Guam-based 737-800s with ten MAX 8s, ahead of an end-2026 target (checked Oct 14, 2026). The MAX 8 seats 164, including 14 in United First. The Guam fleet serves 15 destinations, including the Island Hopper and Japan, and the GUM check-in lobby has been refreshed.
The bigger rollout. Since the spring 2026 launch, United says Starlink has reached more than 37.7 million passengers across more than 538,000 flights, with more than 14 million devices connected. It is now on about 47% of daily flights. The airline says it is free for MileagePlus members in every cabin, and the full fleet should have it by the end of 2027 (checked Oct 14, 2026).
Worth knowing. Installations are underway, so not every aircraft on a route will have it yet. If Wi-Fi matters for a long Pacific hop, check your specific flight before you book. Joining MileagePlus is free, and our guides cover getting the most from the miles you earn.
Schedules and equipment assignments can shift. This is accurate as of Oct 14, 2026; confirm on united.com.
