Lufthansa’s first A350-1000 will fly Munich to Tokyo Haneda from Dec 3

Lufthansa said on Oct 15, 2026 that its first Airbus A350-1000, registered D-AIFA "Deutschland," will make its first scheduled flight on Dec 3, 2026 from Munich to Tokyo Haneda. The aircraft is the Group's 700th Airbus and carries a 100th-anniversary livery. It ferries to Munich in mid-November, and Shanghai and Singapore follow in the weeks after launch.

The cabin

All flights on these routes carry the Allegris cabin, flown alternately by the A350-1000 and the A350-900. The A350-1000 seats 300: First 3 to 4 (two single suites and a "Suite Plus"), Business 49 (8 of them in suites), Premium Economy 35 and Economy 212. Lufthansa has 15 A350-1000s on order by 2030, with the first 10 based in Munich. The engines are Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97.

Dates are as of Oct 16, 2026; confirm on the Lufthansa Group newsroom, and check which aircraft operates a given date before you book, since the two A350 types alternate.

The points angle

Lufthansa is a Star Alliance carrier, so United MileagePlus and Air Canada Aeroplan can book partner awards on its flights. Miles & More is not on our transfer chart from the big four U.S. programs; check our transfer chart for current partners.

What to do: if you want the new cabin, look at the Munich–Tokyo schedule after Dec 3 and confirm the aircraft type on the flight you pick. Check partner award space through United or Aeroplan before moving any points.
