Lufthansa adds Frankfurt–Columbus from May 5, 2027 and Munich–Phoenix from Aug. 3

Lufthansa Group published its summer 2027 schedule on Oct. 20, 2026, calling it its largest route expansion since 2020 and listing ten new long-haul routes. Two are U.S. cities: Columbus, Ohio, and Phoenix, Arizona . The release is in German; this summary is ours.

Frankfurt–Columbus

Lufthansa will fly Frankfurt–Columbus (CMH) from May 5, 2027, three times a week (Wednesday, Friday and Sunday), on a Boeing 787-9 fitted with the Allegris cabins. The release says Lufthansa will be the first and only European airline with nonstop service to Columbus .

Munich–Phoenix

Munich–Phoenix (PHX) starts Aug. 3, 2027, also three times a week (Tuesday, Friday and Sunday), on an Airbus A350-900. The release notes that Phoenix has had no direct link to a Lufthansa Group hub until now. It does not state the cabin configuration on this route .

Booking and points

The release says summer 2027 flights are bookable from Oct. 20, 2026. It does not give a separate booking date for each route, so confirm that your dates are open when you search (as of Oct 21, 2026; confirm on lufthansa.com).

Lufthansa is a Star Alliance member, so partner programs that price Star Alliance awards may be able to book these flights once award space is released.
