IHG passes 1,000 open hotels in Europe, with 280+ more in the pipeline

IHG Hotels & Resorts said on October 22, 2026 that it has surpassed 1,000 open hotels across Europe.

The numbers

According to IHG's release, the company added more than 210 hotels to its European portfolio over three years and has made 36 opening debuts in new European countries since the start of 2024 (excluding Ruby). It cites recent brand debuts in Iceland, Sweden and Greece and more than 280 hotels in its European pipeline. The release also mentions Crowne Plaza Vienna, with 195 guest rooms.

Why it matters for points travelers

More properties means more places to book with IHG One Rewards points in smaller European cities, although the release doesn't say which new hotels join the program or what award prices will be. It doesn't give opening dates for pipeline hotels either.
