How do I get Benfica tickets in Lisbon?
Short answer: Buy through SL Benfica's official website or app, or in person at an official ticket point. Members and Red Pass holders get first access, so non-members should check the match page often, and for big games should have a backup plan. If no match ticket turns up, the stadium and museum visit is a solid fallback.
The details
- Use official channels. Benfica says tickets should be bought only through its official website and app, stores and Benfica Houses with a ticketing system. Buying elsewhere risks being refused entry at Estádio da Luz. (checked Oct 12, 2026)
- Expect member-first sales. For the Celtic match on Thu 15 Oct, the club listed a priority window for Red Pass holders, then a sale open only to members who were paid up and registered by a cutoff date. (checked Oct 12, 2026) Each match has its own sales phases, so read the notes on the match you want. Whether and when non-members get a turn varies by fixture. Check the match page.
- Know the upcoming home games. The official list shows Celtic on Thu 15 Oct at 8:00pm and Gil Vicente FC on Thu 29 Oct at 8:45pm. (checked Oct 12, 2026) Kickoff times and dates can move, especially with European fixtures.
- Paper tickets are an option. For physical tickets, the club lists pickup at the Bilheteira Centenário at the stadium, the Benfica Official Store at Mar Shopping, the Official Store in Coimbra and the Casa do Benfica in Albufeira. (checked Oct 12, 2026) Pick your delivery option at checkout.
- Plan for no refunds. The club's match listing says there are no exchanges or refunds of tickets. (checked Oct 12, 2026) Confirm your dates before paying.
- Reselling is a risk. Third-party resale sites exist and often charge well above face value. Benfica's warning above applies to them. If you use one, understand you're accepting that risk, and for the Lisbon derby and Europa League nights, expect sellouts and high prices.
Fallback: the stadium and museum visit
If no match ticket works out, you can still go inside. The official price list shows Stadium and Museum at €26.00 ≈ $29 public, Stadium only at €21.00 ≈ $24, and Museum only at €12.00 ≈ $14. (checked Oct 12, 2026) Museum visits run daily from 10:00am to 7:00pm, except on men's football game days at the stadium, Dec 25 and Jan 1. (checked Oct 12, 2026) Hours and prices can change, so check the official page.
Getting there
Take the Blue Line to Colégio Militar/Luz. The station serves the Colombo shopping center. Station hours are listed as 06h30 to 01h. (checked Oct 12, 2026) It's roughly a 15-minute ride from the downtown core. After a late kickoff, check the last train time before you settle in.
Tips
- Create your account on the Benfica website and app before sales open. It saves time when tickets drop.
- Check the match page daily as the date approaches. The sales phases are listed there.
- Book flexible hotels if your trip hinges on one match, since dates shift.
- Keep your phone charged and your ticket confirmation handy on match day.
- Don't accept tickets from strangers outside the stadium.
FAQ
Can tourists buy Benfica tickets without being members?
Sometimes. Members and Red Pass holders get priority on big games, so non-members depend on whether tickets remain for general sale. Check the official match page for each fixture's phases. Lower-demand league games are usually the best bet, but we can't promise availability for any game.
Is it safe to buy from resale sites?
Benfica says tickets from unofficial channels risk being refused at the gate. That risk applies to resale sites. If you're considering one, weigh it carefully, and don't rely on it for a trip you can't change.
Where can I pick up physical tickets?
The club lists the Bilheteira Centenário at Estádio da Luz, the official stores at Mar Shopping and Coimbra, and the Casa do Benfica in Albufeira. Confirm which options apply to your match when you choose delivery at checkout.
