Air Canada’s App Wins Best Airline App: Features Worth Using on Your Next Trip

Air Canada announced on October 22, 2026 that its app was named Best Airline App at the 2026 World Aviation Festival in Lisbon, winning the "Battle of the Airline Apps" over two other airline finalists.

The number

More than 23 million downloads, and the app is free to download.

Features the airline highlights

• Adaptive home screen that changes with each stage of the trip, surfacing check-in, boarding passes, flight status and bag tracking.
• Connecting gate directions for passengers connecting at Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.
• Low fare calendar showing fares by date, useful if your dates are flexible.
• Side-by-side fare comparison that displays fare rules and baggage allowances before you book.
• Bag Buddy, which shows the name of the person who loaded your bag, and a Bravo button to thank a team member.

All of the above:

Why it matters

This is an award, not a program change: nothing in the release alters Aeroplan earning, redemption or fares. For travelers routing through Canada on a points trip, the gate-directions tool is the practical piece, since tight connections at the three big hubs are where plans tend to fall apart. Features and availability may vary by market; confirm on aircanada.com before relying on a specific tool.
