Atmos Rewards: pick how you earn, a debit card in 2027 and a Nov 2 family perk for top members

Alaska's Atmos Rewards program has several dated changes on its official expansion page, last updated Oct 20, 2026. The biggest: since Oct 1, 2026, members can pick how they earn points and status points, by distance traveled, price paid or segments flown. The choice applies to flights departing on or after Jan 1, 2027 (checked Oct 24, 2026).
The earning-method rules
New members who join on or after Jan 1, 2027 default to earning by price paid. Current members who make no choice keep earning by distance. You can change your method once per calendar year, and the change applies to future travel only (checked Oct 24, 2026).
Other dates on the page
- Nov 2, 2026: Platinum and Titanium members can bring eligible children and one companion into Premium Class at no cost, when space is available.
- Early 2027: an Atmos debit card is planned, with pre-registration open at atmosrewards.com/debit.
- In 2027: Bank of America cardholders with eligible cards can transfer points into Atmos Rewards.
- Alterra Mountain Company, Nordstrom and Pebble Beach Resorts are listed as "upcoming partners" with no start dates.
- Atmos Communities grew from 2 to 6 on Oct 1, 2026.
What to do
Fly mostly long, cheap-fare routes? Distance earning may suit you; if you buy higher fares, compare price-paid earning before the Jan 1 change takes effect. As of Oct 24, 2026; confirm your options in your Atmos Rewards account and on news.alaskaair.com/loyalty/atmos-rewards-expands/.
