IHG and Amex give Mainland China Platinum cardmembers a status match to IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite

IHG Hotels & Resorts announced a partnership with American Express in Mainland China. Eligible Amex Platinum cardmembers there can register for a complimentary status match to IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite . The release page is dated Oct 22, 2026, though its metadata says Oct 19.

The benefits

Matched members get 60% bonus points on qualifying stays, plus a welcome amenity, room upgrades and late check-out, subject to availability. The matched status is valid through Dec 31, 2027; with 10 qualifying nights between Sep 15, 2026 and Dec 31, 2027, it extends through Dec 31, 2028. A limited-time cashback offer runs until Dec 31, 2026 at Regent, Vignette Collection, Kimpton and select InterContinental hotels in Greater China .

Who this is for

This is a regional benefit for Amex cardmembers in Mainland China, so it does not apply to U.S. Platinum cardholders. We include it because it shows where issuer-hotel status matches are heading. As of Oct 24, 2026; confirm eligibility and registration on the IHG and American Express China pages.
