Qatar Airways announced on Oct 20, 2026 that it will fly between Doha (DOH) and Western Sydney International Airport (WSI) starting Dec 15, 2027. Tickets go on sale Dec 19, 2026 through qatarairways.com or the Qatar Airways app .

The schedule and the plane

The route starts at three weekly flights, with plans to grow to daily. Doha to Western Sydney is QR906 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, departing 01:40 and arriving 23:45. The return, QR907, flies Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, departing 16:10 and arriving 23:00. The release does not state time zones. Aircraft is a Boeing 777-300ER with 42 Qsuite business seats and 312 economy seats, and the release says free Starlink Wi-Fi .

Why it matters for points travelers

Western Sydney becomes Qatar's seventh Australian gateway, after Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra. Privilege Club members can earn and use Avios, including for upgrades. The release says the route complements Qatar's partnership with Virgin Australia.

What to do

Nothing yet: this is a late-2027 launch and fares and award space will not appear until the Dec 19, 2026 on-sale date. If you hold Avios, that is the day to check award availability. As of Oct 24, 2026; schedules can change, so confirm on qatarairways.com before you plan.
