In Cabo San Lucas, the hotel address changes the shape of the trip. Staying beside the marina makes boat departures, downtown restaurants and nightlife easier to reach. Médano Beach puts the town’s best-known swimmable shoreline close by. Properties farther out along the Tourist Corridor or toward the Pacific can trade walkability for a quieter resort setting and broader coastal views. Before booking, decide which places you will visit more than once, then compare the hotel’s exact address and transport options against those plans.
Choose the area before choosing the hotel
- Marina and downtown: Best for boat tours, sport-fishing departures, restaurants, shopping and evenings on foot around the harbor. Expect a busier town setting; a marina-view room does not mean a quiet room, so ask about room orientation and event noise.
- Médano Beach: The easiest choice if swimming and beach time are central. The beach is near downtown and the marina, with a lively mix of hotels, beach clubs and restaurants. Beachfront does not guarantee quiet or a private stretch of sand.
- El Tezal and the town entrance: A practical base for driving or arranging rides, with fewer attractions immediately outside some properties. Check the actual route and cost for each beach, marina outing and dinner rather than relying on the broad label “Cabo San Lucas.”
- Pacific-facing edge and resort corridor: Select this for a destination-resort stay, dramatic coast and time spent mostly on property. The property may be separated from town by distance and highway traffic; confirm the shuttle or transfer arrangement and whether nearby water is suitable for swimming.
Los Cabos is spread between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, with the Tourist Corridor between them. They are not interchangeable hotel locations. If your plans include both towns, check each leg with the destination’s current transport guidance. The Ruta del Desierto bus connects the main points, while authorized taxis, private transfers and rental cars serve other trip styles. Verify fares and pickup arrangements before departure; transport availability and prices change.
Hotels by the marina and downtown
- Tesoro Los Cabos — marina / Centro: Blvd. Paseo de la Marina LT 9 y 10, Centro, Cabo San Lucas, BCS 23450. This address is a strong fit for travelers who want to put marina departures and downtown meals near the center of the stay. The hotel’s tourism-board listing describes it as steps from the marina and downtown and identifies on-site dining and a pool. Consider the tradeoff: the harbor-side setting is active, and the hotel’s central location may bring more evening sound than an out-of-town resort. Confirm current facilities and room placement with the hotel. Official destination listing · Address-search map.
- Breathless Cabo San Lucas Resort & Spa — marina entrance: Paseo de la Marina, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico 23453. Hyatt describes this adults-only, all-inclusive property as having marina-view suites and a southern-tip location close to sport-fishing and whale-watching departures. Compare it if you want a resort format while keeping the marina in view. Ask about room orientation, age policies, included meals and the current scope of all-inclusive benefits before booking. Hotels on or beside Médano Beach
- Casa Dorada Los Cabos Resort & Spa — Médano: Avenida del Pescador S/N, El Médano, Cabo San Lucas, C.P. 23410. The hotel says it overlooks Médano Beach and is near the marina and downtown. This is a useful base when you want a beach-forward stay without giving up access to the town center. Médano is a social shoreline, so expect activity on and around the beach; confirm whether your room faces the pool, beach or a quieter side. The resort calls Médano swimmable, but conditions are not a permanent guarantee: check local warnings and flags on the day. Official contact and location · Address-search map.
- Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos Beach Resort — Médano beachfront: Playa El Médano S/N, Cabo San Lucas, BCS 23410. The resort operator places this property on Médano Beach and describes it as an all-suite beach resort. Compare it if you want resort amenities with the beach and Cabo’s central waterfront nearby. Check the current meal plan, room configuration, mobility needs and cancellation terms directly with the operator; a beach-front address alone does not establish that every activity or meal is included. - Bahia Hotel & Beach House — Médano district: Avenida El Pescador S/N, El Médano, Cabo San Lucas, BCS 23453. Bahia describes itself as a boutique hotel steps from Médano’s swimmable shoreline, with SUR Beach House and Bar Esquina among its dining venues. This is a useful comparison for travelers who prefer a smaller hotel setting near the beach and town over a large all-inclusive complex. Its own site notes that some direct-booking benefits are subject to availability; check exactly what the rate includes and whether beach-club access is part of it. Quieter resort settings outside the walkable core
- The Cape, a Thompson Hotel — Pacific-facing coast west of town: Carretera Transpeninsular Km 5, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico 23455. Hyatt’s hotel information gives this highway address and notes that Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) is 28 miles away. The setting suits travelers prioritizing a resort stay and coastal views over stepping out into the marina district. Build in transport for town dinners and boat departures, and check the property’s transfer details rather than assuming a regular shuttle. The nearby ocean may have different surf and current conditions from protected Médano; follow beach warnings and hotel lifeguard guidance. - Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach — Pacific side / Paraíso Escondido: Predio Paraíso Escondido, Cabo San Lucas, BCS 23450. The operator places the property at Paraíso Escondido, away from the marina-and-Médano cluster. Choose it when the resort itself is the primary destination and you are comfortable arranging transport for town plans. Confirm the current internal and town-transfer schedules, beach access, meal inclusions and any age or access rules with the resort; do not assume a hotel shuttle runs whenever you need it. Official resort page · Operator contact and address list · Address-search map.
- Holiday Inn Express Cabo San Lucas — El Tezal / town entrance: Corredor CSL–SJD Km 4.5, Col. El Tezal, Cabo San Lucas, BCS 23454. IHG says the hotel is not directly on the beach, has no complimentary local shuttle and sits about 3 km from the marina; the operator lists shared outdoor parking and complimentary breakfast. Consider it when a simpler hotel base, car access or a planned pickup matters more than a beachfront setting. Check the final route, transfer availability and accessibility details against your specific arrival and room needs. Beach access is not the same as safe swimming
Los Cabos tourism guidance cautions that some beaches beside hotels are unsuitable for swimming because surf, rip currents and undertows can be hazardous. It identifies Médano as a protected, generally swimmable bay beach and recommends checking the beach flags: red or black flags indicate unsafe water. Even at a beach commonly considered swimmable, conditions can change. Ask hotel staff or lifeguards about that day’s surf, heed posted warnings and stay out of the water when conditions are unclear. If swimming is central to your trip, choose a property near the beach you intend to use rather than relying on an ocean view or the word “beachfront.” Los Cabos tourism board: swimming and beach safety.
Plan airport transfers and the last mile
Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) is near San José del Cabo, not next door to downtown Cabo San Lucas. Before choosing an airport transfer, provide the hotel’s exact address and confirm whether the fare is per person or vehicle, whether it is shared or private, where the driver meets you and what happens if a flight is delayed. Hotels may sell transfers, but the booking terms and advance-notice requirements vary. Authorized taxis and private transfers provide door-to-door service; the Ruta del Desierto bus is a more budget-minded way to connect the main points between San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, with highway stops along the corridor. Ask the bus operator or local tourism information for the current stop nearest your property, then check the final walk with luggage. Current destination transport guidance.
For marina departures, confirm the operator’s meeting point and arrival time. A hotel described as near the marina may still require a walk, taxi or resort shuttle, and a map’s straight-line distance does not account for entrances, crossings, heat or luggage. For dinner, ask whether your chosen restaurant is walkable from the actual hotel entrance and agree on a return ride before leaving if you will be out late. If using a rental car, verify parking, insurance and the route before departure. Accessibility is specific to the whole trip chain: ask both hotel and transport provider about step-free routes, room layout and boarding assistance.
A quick way to match your stay to your itinerary
- One or two nights, boat tour and downtown meals: Compare marina and Centro properties first.
- Several beach days with town dining: Compare Médano addresses; look at beach access, room noise and meal-plan details.
- Mostly resort time: A Pacific-side or corridor resort may fit, as long as you budget for each ride into town.
- Driving or exploring farther afield: Compare El Tezal or a property with clearly stated parking and transfer arrangements.
