Practical Guide

Orly Airport to Paris: Choose the Right Route to Your Hotel

A first-timer’s decision guide from Paris-Orly to a Paris hotel, covering Metro 14, Orlyval and RER B, airport-ticket rules, terminal orientation, taxi, luggage, accessibility, and live disruption checks.

Task: choose a date-appropriate route from Paris-Orly (ORY) to the exact hotel address. This page is for a first-time traveler arriving from the United States, after immigration and baggage claim. Orly has several numbered terminal areas and multiple transport choices; do not start by buying a generic city ticket. Research checked 2026-09-25. Schedules, connections, fares, and terminal signs can change. No firsthand travel is claimed.

Use your hotel address to choose a route

Enter the hotel street address and expected departure time in the Île-de-France Mobilités journey planner or Bonjour RATP. Compare complete door-to-door trips, including the walk from the arrival hall to a station, interchange time, station exit, and final walk. A hotel near a central Line 14 stop may make Metro 14 the simplest first option. A hotel near RER B may favor Orlyval to Antony and RER B. For other addresses, Metro 14 may still be fastest but require an interchange; a direct official taxi can be easier when bags or mobility needs dominate. No route is universally best.

Check service status after landing, not only when planning at home. If the planned line is disrupted, compare the alternatives in the live planner and confirm the airport connection is operating. T7 may suit a hotel near its southern suburban route, but compare its terminal approach and any transfer against Metro 14 or Orlyval. Use the date-specific official planner for any additional bus or rail option. A map app’s suggested route may miss a closure or a changed airport stop; use the operator’s notice and station signs as the tie-breaker.

Find Metro 14 or Orlyval from your terminal

Orly is organized as Orly 1, 2, 3, and 4. These terminal labels matter when following signs to public transport. Use the Paris Aéroport official Orly transport page and current terminal maps to identify the route from your arrivals area to the relevant station. Do not rely on a remembered door number: works and terminal access paths can be updated. Follow airport signs for Metro 14/Grand Paris Express when that is your choice. Allow extra walking time from the arrival hall to the station, particularly if the flight arrives at a different terminal area than expected or you are traveling with a cart or several bags.

The airport rail choice most visitors should compare first is Metro 14 from Aéroport d’Orly, which provides a direct connection into the Metro network. For a second option, Orlyval links the airport terminal area with Antony, where you can transfer to RER B for Paris. The RATP airport connections page lists current airport links and ticket guidance; the airport’s live page gives terminal-specific wayfinding. Orlyval and Metro 14 are distinct services: check current service hours, transfer path, and ticket product for each leg. If your flight arrives near the end of service, verify the last practical connection before leaving the terminal. Do not use an old timetable or assume that a line runs all night.

T7 is a tram option, not an airport express. RATP’s live T7 line page and the official T7 route page show current line and journey information: it connects Villejuif Louis Aragon with Athis-Mons, Porte de l’Essonne, and serves Aéroport d’Orly. From the airport stop, follow current airport signs to your terminal; check the airport map and station lift status because the accessible path or elevator availability can change. Île-de-France Mobilités specifies that the Paris Région <> Aéroports ticket does not cover tram lines, including T7. Use a Bus-Tram Ticket for the tram segment, or confirm that your valid pass covers it. Bus-Tram does not cover Metro or Orlyval, so an itinerary combining T7 with those services may require separate compatible products. Check ticket support compatibility before purchase and validate as instructed. Compare transfers, terminal walking, and stairs against Metro 14 or Orlyval/RER B before deciding.

Understand the airport-ticket boundary

Do not assume an ordinary city Metro ticket covers entry or exit at Aéroport d’Orly. The current Île-de-France Mobilités airport-ticket terms describe the airport product and applicable services; they explicitly exclude tram lines T1–T14, including T7. RATP lists T7 as a distinct route and describes airport ticket choices on its airport connections page. For T7, use the official Bus-Tram Ticket information to check validity, eligible passes, and purchase media. Do not use the airport ticket for T7, and do not use a Bus-Tram Ticket for Metro 14 or Orlyval. RATP summarizes the airport links and ticket choices on its airport ticket page. Standard Metro-Train-RER terms exclude the airport station boundary; review the official Metro-Train-RER conditions. A ticket bought for a later Metro ride is not automatically valid for the airport segment.

Before tapping in, check whether your existing Navigo pass covers the airport journey and whether its coverage applies to your specific route. Product, zones, and Orlyval treatment can differ. The official RATP/IDFM ticket guidance and ticket finder are the source of truth for your pass. A casual visitor buying an airport trip should choose a current airport-valid product and confirm it is loaded on the right medium. Île-de-France Mobilités explains which ticket types may coexist on one support; if your phone or card already has a conflicting product, use another compatible support or ask staff before entering. Buy from an official app, machine, or staffed point and retain the ticket until leaving the paid area.

Taxi, bags, and step-free access

If you want a door-to-door trip, follow airport signs to the official taxi rank for your terminal and join the marked queue. Do not accept an offer from someone approaching in the arrivals hall or on the curb. French government information describes regulated taxi operation, fare display, and receipts; see the official taxi guidance. This guide omits fare amounts because airport tariffs are revised; confirm the current official tariff for the destination zone before travel. Tell the dispatcher if you need a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, child seat, or extra luggage space. Confirm your hotel address before the trip begins and request a receipt if useful.

Metro and rail are often practical with one manageable suitcase, but airport-to-hotel is not just the train ride. Count the walk to the platform, gates, stairs or lifts, transfer corridors, and final route from station exit to reception. Check step-free access on every station and interchange with the operator; do not infer it from a wide gate or lift at one end. If an accessible end-to-end trip cannot be confirmed, compare a taxi or a bus route with verified stops. Keep bags together and avoid blocking doors or circulation areas. With a stroller, mobility device, or multiple large cases, favor fewer transfers even when the route is longer.

Disruption and late-arrival checklist

Before boarding, check RATP’s live network status and current airport notices. If Metro 14 is disrupted, use the journey planner to compare Orlyval/RER B, T7 or another current official connection; verify that the whole sequence is running, the T7-to-terminal path is open, and each leg has the correct ticket product. If Orlyval is closed or the transfer at Antony is unsuitable, do not assume Metro 14 is interchangeable with it on the same ticket: verify the fare product for the replacement route. Ask airport or station staff where to go and whether a replacement service accepts your ticket before leaving the paid area.

As a practical planning envelope, allow roughly 55–95 minutes from the public arrivals area to a central hotel for the station approach, wait, ride, interchange if any, and hotel walk. Add time for immigration, baggage, airport walking, busy periods, and service changes. It is not a scheduled journey time or guarantee. A taxi’s road time depends on traffic; check a live planner and keep a generous buffer. If arriving late, verify the last departure from the airport station on your exact date, and identify a taxi fallback before the flight. Save the hotel address offline and keep your phone charged; if data drops, use station maps and ask uniformed staff.

The route depends on the hotel address and date, so no fixed stop sequence or coordinates are supplied. Any future route graphic must be generated from a checked live itinerary and use a properly licensed or original map base.
