What are the best luxury hotels in Bangkok to book with points?

For most people, the best luxury award stay in Bangkok is Park Hyatt Bangkok. The St. Regis Bangkok is the strongest pick if your points are in Marriott Bonvoy. Waldorf Astoria Bangkok is the Hilton flagship, and Conrad Bangkok is the easier Hilton option.

Bangkok is one of the cities where a luxury award night can cost far less than the same hotel in Europe or the US. The catch is that all three big programs now price by date, so the "best" hotel depends on your dates and which points you hold.

Who it's for (and who should skip it)

Book luxury on points in Bangkok if:

  • You hold World of Hyatt, Marriott Bonvoy or Hilton Honors points, or can move flexible points into them. See our transfer partners guide.
  • You want big rooms, strong service and city-center access for a fraction of what peer hotels cost in other capitals.
  • You're staying 2–4 nights. That's long enough to enjoy the hotel but short enough that award prices don't add up painfully.

Consider skipping points (or splitting your stay) if:

  • You're traveling over a major holiday or a peak weekend. Award prices can hit the top tier, and a cash rate or a status-based perk may be the better deal.
  • You want a riverside "Old Bangkok" feel. Several of the hotels below are in the shopping and business core, not on the Chao Phraya, so check each location before you commit.
  • You want a hotel from a program where you have no points. Most hotels here are not worth buying points just for one stay.

The short list at a glance

Hotel Program Why it's on the list
Park Hyatt Bangkok World of Hyatt Large rooms, direct BTS and mall access
The St. Regis Bangkok Marriott Bonvoy Butler service, big room count, Rajadamri location
Waldorf Astoria Bangkok Hilton Honors Hilton's top Bangkok address
Conrad Bangkok Hilton Honors Easier Hilton luxury option with frequent point-earning offers
Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen's Park Marriott Bonvoy Suites and club lounge; best for elites and families
JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok Marriott Bonvoy Sukhumvit address with a classic luxury feel

Park Hyatt Bangkok (World of Hyatt)

This is our top pick. The hotel sits in Central Embassy on Wireless Road, and it has direct access to Central Embassy and the Ploenchit BTS skytrain station . You can go from your room to the train or the mall without stepping outside, which matters in Bangkok's heat and rain.

The rooms are the draw. There are 222 rooms, including 32 suites, and entry-level rooms start at 48 square meters . That's roomy for a standard category room. Check-in is listed at 3:00 PM and check-out at 12:00 PM , though Hyatt can change this, so confirm in your booking.

Airport distances are worth knowing. Hyatt lists Suvarnabhumi (BKK) at 27 kilometers and Don Mueang (DMK) at 22 kilometers . Travel time depends heavily on traffic, so allow extra on weekday evenings.

What it costs in points: Hyatt's published chart now has five tiers per category, from Lowest to Top. A Category 6 standard room runs from 20,000 points per night at the Lowest tier to 40,000 at the Top tier . We last saw Park Hyatt Bangkok in the Category 6 range, but categories get reassigned. Check the hotel's category on the Hyatt booking page before you move points.

How to fund it: Chase Ultimate Rewards transfers to Hyatt at 4:3, and Bilt transfers at 1:1. See the transfer partners page for details.

The St. Regis Bangkok (Marriott Bonvoy)

The St. Regis is the best way to use Marriott points for a true luxury stay here. It has 176 rooms and 52 suites , and guests get St. Regis butler service 24 hours a day . The address is 159 Rajadamri Road , close to the Ratchaprasong shopping district.

Marriott lists 6 restaurants and an outdoor pool on site . Marriott also says Bonvoy members get complimentary in-room internet when they book direct .

What it costs in points: Marriott prices award nights by date, with no fixed chart. In the past we've seen rates in the tens of thousands of points per night, but the number moves with the calendar. Check the 12-month calendar on marriott.com for your dates.

How to fund it: Chase, Amex and Bilt all transfer to Marriott at 1:1. See the transfer partners page.

Waldorf Astoria Bangkok (Hilton Honors)

Hilton's flagship in the city is at 151 Ratchadamri Road, with check-in at 3:00 PM and check-out at 12:00 PM . Hilton describes it as contemporary luxury in Bangkok's Central Business District .

Hilton award prices also vary by date. Hilton points are worth less per point than Hyatt or Marriott points, so the stay usually costs many more of them. If you're holding Hilton points from Amex (1:2) or Bilt (1:1), price the nights before you commit. Hilton typically offers a free fifth night on award stays for some elite members and cardholders, but check the current terms on hilton.com.

Conrad Bangkok (Hilton Honors)

Conrad is the easier Hilton luxury option. It's less of a splurge than the Waldorf, and the hotel often runs point-earning promotions. Hilton's hotel offers page lists a 2X Points offer that earns double Hilton Honors points for each night . It also lists an advance-purchase rate that saves up to 17% off the Best Available Rate . Offers like these change often and may not apply to award bookings, so read the terms.

Marriott's big Sukhumvit hotels

Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen's Park is a large Sukhumvit hotel at 199 Sukhumvit Soi 22 . Marriott says its suites range from 64 to 720 square meters . The M Club lounge is listed as complimentary for Platinum and higher members . That makes it a value pick for Bonvoy elites. If you don't have status, the lounge is a paid or room-rate perk instead.

JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok describes itself as a 5-star hotel in Sukhumvit . It makes sense for a classic luxury stay if the St. Regis dates are too expensive.

Marriott's Bangkok list also includes The Athenee (a Luxury Collection hotel), Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit and The Ritz-Carlton, Bangkok. Check their pages and award prices on marriott.com, because we haven't stamped details for them here.

Tips and tricks

  1. Price all three programs for your exact dates. The cheapest points option changes by night, so look at Hyatt, Marriott and Hilton calendars before you move any points.
  2. Move points only after you see availability. Transfers can't be reversed. Check the hotel booking page first.
  3. Look at Hyatt's tier, not just the category. Because the chart has five tiers, the same hotel can cost twice as much on a Top night as on a Lowest night. A shift of a day or two can save a lot.
  4. Use the Marriott app for the St. Regis butler. Marriott says butler requests can be sent through the Marriott Bonvoy app or by email . It's a nice perk for pre-arrival requests.
  5. Book direct for the Wi-Fi. Both St. Regis and JW list free in-room internet for Bonvoy members booking direct.
  6. Don't ignore cash rates. Programs like Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Edit by Chase can bring breakfast and upgrades on cash bookings. If points prices spike, they can beat an award night. Terms vary, so check each program's page.
  7. Check the rail connection if you're sightseeing. Park Hyatt, Waldorf and St. Regis all sit in the central district, so you can often use BTS rather than a taxi.
  8. Ask about the BKK versus DMK airport. Ask your airline which airport your flight uses, then compare the hotel's distance to each.

Worked example (illustrative)

Say you want a four-night Bangkok trip: two nights in the Ratchaprasong area on Marriott points, then two nights at Park Hyatt.

  • Nights 1–2: The St. Regis Bangkok. Check the Marriott calendar for the nightly price on your dates. If you have Marriott points from Chase, Amex or Bilt, they move at 1:1.
  • Nights 3–4: Park Hyatt Bangkok. On Hyatt's Category 6 chart, two nights cost between 40,000 points (two Lowest nights at 20,000) and 80,000 points (two Top nights at 40,000) for a standard room, per Hyatt's published chart . Confirm the hotel's category first.
  • Why this order works. You start in a butler-service hotel and finish with a big room that connects to the BTS for your airport trip.

If points are limited, spend your points on the single best-value night and pay cash for the rest.

FAQ

What is the single best luxury hotel in Bangkok to book with points?

For most travelers it's Park Hyatt Bangkok. It has large entry rooms, direct access to the BTS and a mall, and Hyatt's chart can make it very good value on lower-priced nights. If your points are in Marriott, the St. Regis is the better fit.

Is Waldorf Astoria Bangkok worth it on Hilton points?

It can be, but check the price first. Hilton prices award nights by date, and Hilton points are generally worth less per point than Hyatt or Marriott points. If your stay is flexible, compare it against the cash rate and Hilton's offers on hilton.com.

Can I transfer credit card points to these hotels?

Yes. Chase transfers to Hyatt at 4:3 and to Marriott at 1:1. Amex transfers to Marriott at 1:1 and to Hilton at 1:2. Bilt transfers 1:1 to Hyatt, Marriott and Hilton. See our transfer partners page.

Do I need elite status to enjoy these hotels?

No. Status helps with upgrades and lounge access, but you can book an award night without it. At Marriott Marquis Queen's Park, the club lounge is listed as complimentary for Platinum and above, so status matters more there than at the others.

Are points better than paying cash in Bangkok?

It depends on the date. Luxury cash rates in Bangkok can be much lower than in Europe, so award nights aren't automatically the best value. Check the cash rate against the points price and use points when the cash rate is high.

Which Bangkok neighborhood should I stay in?

Park Hyatt, Waldorf Astoria and St. Regis are all in or near the central Ratchaprasong and Ploenchit area, close to shopping and the BTS. Marriott Marquis Queen's Park and JW Marriott are on Sukhumvit. For temples and the river, you'd need to look at other hotels and taxis or boats.
