Delta brings more of Europe closer with new routes from Detroit and Boston

Delta has announced new transatlantic service for 2027, with Detroit to Athens and Boston to Venice leading the list, in a release dated September 25, 2026.

Detroit to Athens (DTW-ATH): Three nonstops a week, starting June 8, 2027 and running through Oct. 28, on an Airbus A330-200 with Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort and Delta Main. Delta says it is the first nonstop between Detroit and Athens, and its seventh destination in continental Europe from the Detroit hub.

Boston to Venice (BOS-VCE): Four nonstops a week, starting May 7, 2027 and running through Oct. 29, on an Airbus A330-300 with the same four cabins. Delta says Boston-Milan also goes to daily service in 2027. If Boston is your home airport, see our Boston guide.

Austin to Paris (AUS-CDG): Previously announced, this is a daily nonstop starting March 27, 2027 on the Airbus A330-900. It is Austin's first nonstop to Paris. Through the Air France-KLM partnership, Delta lists one-stop access beyond Paris to nearly 70 destinations in Europe, India and Africa. Planning a trip? Start with our Paris guide.

Italy and a longer 2027 season: Delta says it will have up to 17 peak-day departures from the U.S. to Italy and more than 30,000 nonstop seats a week. Minneapolis-St. Paul and Detroit to Rome begin in early March, and Seattle-Rome in April. Detroit-Rome will be daily when it resumes. Our Rome guide covers the destination. Delta also says several routes return earlier next year, including Boston and Seattle to Barcelona, Atlanta to Edinburgh, and New York-JFK to Catania, Porto, Prague and Copenhagen. Cincinnati-Paris continues three times a week from January through March.

The points angle: The release does not mention SkyMiles, so we have no award pricing for these flights. Schedules open for booking on Delta's own timeline. In general terms: Amex Membership Rewards transfers to Delta SkyMiles at 1:1 (per PerkJolt's verified chart, checked Oct 8, 2026). Delta also names Virgin Atlantic among its partners, and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club can book some Delta awards. Availability and pricing vary, so check both programs before moving points. See transfer partners and Amex Membership Rewards.

All start dates and end dates above are as of Oct 12, 2026; confirm on news.delta.com. Schedules are subject to change, so confirm on Delta's official page before booking or moving points.
